FAQs
What was the biggest challenge you faced in creating your store?
Initially choose a paid theme but realizing I couldn't publish with it unless I bought it. I ended up customizing the original Dawn theme and moving my content over from the paid theme.
What worked really well when using our platform?
I really liked how easy it was to add products and all of the fields I was able to customize there. The UI for the theme customization is really great and intuitive. I also liked how I could auto add items into collections by metadata.
What could be improved when using our platform?
It would be nice to be able to select products and set them as active from the product list view page. As well, selling custom items, ideally I would like my customers to be able to add freeform text (with validation i.e. character limit) so that they can customize the products that they would like to order.
How did this experience help you build empathy for our merchants?
It's no small feat to create a cohesive story with enough stock to engage customers but also to encourage them to buy and return later. The tools provided by Shopify really allow a lot of customization and power to create a store that feels responsive and usable yet unique.
What is your biggest takeaway from this experience?
I really found it fun recreating some of the things I've seen in stores online. It's great to see how things like discount codes are created on the admin panel as well as how products can be grouped together. This is actually a kind of store I've been thinking about starting for a while so for me I'll use this as a first draft.
